Feast, not fast
At PizzaExpress, we don’t believe dieting should be a prison sentence. Which is why we’ve extended our Leggera range of lower-calorie options to include a Superfood salad, and a Oddono’s Raspberry Sorbet Dolcetti alongside our popular Leggera pizzas.

Leggera
Superfood Salad
Packed with some of our favourite superfoods, our fresh new salad is nutritious and lower in calories. Baby spinach and seasonal mixed leaves, roasted butternut squash, beetroot, light baby mozzarella, avocado, pine kernels, cucumber, lentils and fresh basil finished with balsamic syrup. At under 300 calories it is even suitable for anyone who is on the 5:2 diet.
Leggera pizzas
Our Leggera pizza range has been hugely popular since we launched it in 2009 (It's Italian for 'light'.)
Our Leggera range brings you all the flavour of your favourite pizzas such as American Hot and Padana with a thin and crispy base topped with a rocket, tomato and ricotta salad. Each one is low in saturated fat. And each one is under 500 calories.
Mini Oddono’s Raspberry Sorbet
Obsessed with the quality and flavor of Gelato in Italy, Christian Oddono uses the finest natural ingredients for his dairy-free raspberry sorbet.
This dessert has been created exclusively for PizzaExpress and is now available as a Dolcetti option with your choice of tea or coffee. At under 100 calories, why wouldn’t you?
Dieting when eating out
We know how hard it is to stick to your diet when eating out because suddenly you’re tempted by higher calorie options. We want to enable you to eat out and still cut down on calories, without feeling you’ve had to compromise on great taste or fresh food.
Here are a few tips.
1. Our pizzas
Our Italian pizza bases are all thin crust. So naturally they carry fewer calories than the deep pan or stuffed crust pizzas, but for those of you that want to reduce your calorie intake further try our Leggera Pizza range, each one is just 500 calories.
2. Ingredients
As our pizzas are hand made to order you can ask to have your pizza without ingredients that are naturally high in fat and calories (like parma ham, pepperoni, or Calabrese sausage).
3. Salads
By swapping our house dressing on our salads for a light dressing you can reduce your intake by 35 calories. Save 118 calories and make your dressing 100% calorie-free by asking for balsamic vinegar or a squeeze of lemon, and remember if it comes with dough sticks ask for them to be left out, saving 248 calories.
4. Desserts
And check out our Dolcetti. They're small, but perfectly formed. A mouth-watering selection of miniature desserts, served with your choice of coffee. For those occasions when you can't quite manage a whole dessert.
The 5:2 diet
We know a number of our customers are trying to lose weight at the moment by doing the 5:2 diet plan so we asked our nutritionist, Juliette Kellow, for advice on how you could manage a fasting day if you are out and about.
Download her meal plan suggestion But please remember, this level of calories is not recommended by her or other nutritionists as being suitable for a daily regime, outside of the 5:2 programme. For sensible and healthy weight loss, Juliette would advise having around 1,500 calories a day to help you lose 1lb a week.Want to find out the calories in our products? Here's our calorie chart.
